Accepted workplace injury
What are you entitled to? Your WorkAon Case Manager will advise you of your entitlements.
Treatment
Treatment provider costs, e.g. Doctor, physiotherapist Emergency transport for treatment
Reimbursement of treatment related costs, e.g. travel costs
Compensation
Earnings related compensation, e.g. 80% weekly compensation Lump sum payments
Death benefits including funeral grants and survivor grants
Additional information can be found on the Intranet and "Workplace Accident" and "ACC Employee Procedures" pamphlets, which are available through the Health and Safety Service or Payroll Service.
Rehabilitation
Medical/Social/Vocational assistance to help you restore your health, independence and participation to the maximum extent possible. Also refer to the ‘Employee Rehabilitation’ policy in the Health and Safety Policy Manual.
In most circumstances the Waikato DHB can provide alternative duties for staff after an injury to add value to the organisation and enhance recovery.
What happens if you cannot work?
Your WorkAon Case Manager will contact you, your manager and the H&SS to develop a plan to assist you to:
Independence and full Health to the maximum extent possible
Return to full duties where possible
If your claim has been accepted and your injury means that you cannot go back to work immediately, WorkAon will liaise with your Payroll Officer to ensure weekly compensation is paid (80% of your normal wage).
If your claim has not been accepted and you cannot go back to work, you should contact your WorkAon Case Manager, union representative/support person, Manager and Health and Safety Service to determine what can be done to assist you.
Your code of rights
The ACC has a Code of Claimant Rights which the Waikato DHB follows. The code requires a partnership approach, where recovery from injury is based on mutual trust, respect, understanding and participation.
What if I disagree with a decision on my claim?
In the first instance you can contact the Waikato DHB Designated Dispute Manager on Phone 839-8899 Ext. 97878. Your claim details will be independently assessed and options offered to informally resolve your issues.
