The Council de nes the prac ce of medicine as:
■  adver sing, holding out to the public, or reprany manner that one is authorised to prac seNew Zealand
■  signing any medical cer  cate required for stapurposes, such as death and crema on cer  ■  prescribing medicines whose sale and supply ilaw to prescrip on by medical prac  oners
■  assessing, diagnosing, trea ng, repor ng or giin a medical capacity, using the knowledge, skand competence ini ally a ained for the MB Cequivalent) and built upon in postgraduate anmedical educa on, wherever there could be apublic safety.
The prac ce of medicine goes wider than clinical mincludes teaching, research, medical or health manin hospitals, clinics, general prac ces and communins tu onal contexts, whether paid or voluntary.

If you have worked outside New Zealand since youissued a prac sing cer  cate you must request a cof good standing (CGS) for each country or board yregistered or licensed with during this  me. The CGsent direct to us from that country or board and mwithin the last 3 months.
CGSs are documents that indicate a doctor was legand permi ed to prac se. A CGS also shows that thimpediment to your current registra on.
If you were working overseas in a voluntary capacithan 3 months, and you were lawfully not registereperiod, a le er of good standing from the person yin the organisa on or hospital you worked in, is acof a CGS.
