Health and Safety service
The objective of the Health and Safety Service is to assist with the development and implementation of systems that will enable the organisation to provide a safe and healthy work environment as required under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Staff at the Health and Safety Service can be contacted at Waikato Hospital Campus, Phone 839-8608 or Ext. 98608.
Your employment health information
When you are employed by the Waikato DHB, you will be asked to provide certain information including:
Personal information such as your age, date of birth, address, contact person and ethnicity
Specific health information
The provision of information requested is voluntary in some circumstances and mandatory in others.
Information will also be gathered using the Health and Safety Service ‘Health Screening Questionnaire’. There are policies and procedures that ensure that employment information is stored securely and is protected from misuse and unauthorised access.

The Health and Safety Service currently conduct the following monitoring programmes;
Hepatitis B screening and vaccination
Post blood and body fluid exposure testing and monitoring Tuberculosis (TB) screening and ongoing monitoring Cidex OPA and Gluteraldehyde exposure monitoring
Depending on the area in which you work you will be required to participate in these monitoring programmes.
